Finding a new hairdresser
If you are like most women, we get comfortable with our hairdresser and respect their judgement when you decide to make a style transformation. You become trusted friends. But what if you move half way across the nation for work.
While the worst thing about moving might be packing your life into boxes, trying to find a new hairdresser that you trust to style your hair is equally, if not more daunting!
How do you select a new hairdresser?
First, get all the details on your current look.
If you like your look and you have a good relationship with your stylist, have them write down how they executed it. Especially is they created a custom colour for you.
Finding a new hairdresser.
Searching hairdressers in your new local area is easily done on google is easily done. But are they any good? Seek recommendations from new friends or work colleagues can be the difference between a good and a bad haircut. Who do they use or recommend? Are they happy with the service they get?
We had one new client who came to us after asking a random woman at a coffee shop where she got her hair styled as she liked it so much. Another new client who recently moved from Melbourne and is a stay at home mum, had her husband ask his new colleagues where they would recommend.
But before making the appointment, take a look the staff profiles to check out their expertise. You want someone who specialises in your hair type and concern.
This is not a time to experiment
The first time you go in to see a new stylist is not the time to lose ten centimetres of hair and go from a fiery read head to platinum blonde. Be patient as this is not a time to experiment. You need to work with your new hairdresser to build up trust and get into a groove. Treat your new hairdresser like any new relationship. Slow and steady. Make sure your new hairdresser spends time with you to discuss your hair and your expectations. Are you wanting high or low maintenance, what have you done in the past that you like and don’t like? How do you style your hair? Be thorough. For your first appointment opt for simple trim and blow wave before diving into a complete transformation.
You don’t have to settle on the first hairdresser you go to.
Just like a first date, you are not obliged to go on a second date. It’s ok to shop around until you find a new stylist. Afterall, once you find your perfect match you are likely to form a solid long-term relationship so it needs to be the right fit.
We welcome all new clients to our salon. We love to collaborate with you to make sure you are happy with your hair and walk away looking like the star you are.
