Just like the clothes that we choose to wear, hair can be used as an outward expression of who we are and our uniqueness.  When our hair is looking good, we feel good too! Everyone loves that fresh hair feeling that you get when you walk out of a salon.  The good news is, that you don’t have to wait until your next appointment to get that feeling. When you look after your hair properly at home, you can enjoy hydrated, soft beautiful hair every day.

Washing your hair

·   Rinse your hair using cold water. Rinsing your hair with hot water can be the quickest way to damage your hair. Instead, rinse your hair using lukewarm water (cold is best). This will make your hair look noticeably brighter and stronger. Why? Very simple: cold water seals the hair cuticle giving your hair strength and stability.

·   Routinely switch up your products.   Products tend to lose their effectiveness after a period of time as your hair builds up a form of resistance.

·   Purifying Cleansing Shampoo. If you use a lot of styling product, this will build up over time. Every 15 days or once a month, use a purifying cleansing shampoo that thoroughly removes the residues. These impurities accumulate in the hair fibre and make your hair lose its shine and stop absorbing the hydration and nutrition you need.

Drying Hair

·   Absorption. Wrap your hair in a towel to absorb as much of the moisture as possible to reduce the time needed to blow dry your hair.

·   Heat Protection. Before reaching for your dryer, apply a heat protective cream to your hair.  Do not bring the hot air too close to your hair and try to maintain a distance of 20cm. Finish off by changing the setting for a blast of cold air to close the cuticle of your hair.

Brushing and Maintenance:

·   Selecting a Brush. Use brushes of good quality or combs without sharp plastic or metal teeth, to avoid cutting the ends. You can check out our selection of brushes and combes in the salon.

·   Brush when dry.  When you brush you brush your hair, you stimulate the root (for growth), and you also distribute the natural fat that is found on the scalp, so that it can be distributed in the direction of the tips.

·   Moisture treatments. Apply treatment creams and oils regularly to moisturise and strengthen your hair.  You will enjoy you will get a hydrated, soft and beautiful hair.
